What are the main ways your business supports nonprofits?
Metafile has sponsored certain events held by local nonprofits, it distributes its software at a cost below some other products with similar functionality and scalability, and it periodically waives fees for services in cases of extreme need.
Why do you personally support nonprofits?
I support nonprofits because I admire their missions, their tenacity, and their unwavering desire to serve others. I try to volunteer where I can, as well as provide other forms of support. While I may not personally have time to volunteer for every organization I believe in, I am able to help in other ways.
What is your company's return on investing in nonprofits?
The company is doing well. Of course fees support our workforce, but I think the most important return is when our customers share with us their successes. We frequently get customers who call after a major campaign or event and share with us what they were able to accomplish. We not only share their joy in these cases, but we are able to help other customers who contact us with questions about how to approach similar goals.
How is your business likely to change in the next few years?
With each new version, we become more and more customer focused in how we present and implement our software and services. I expect this trend to continue, because the more we can make the software tools and services a natural extension of the organization and its employees, the easier it becomes for the organization to focus on its mission without technology getting in the way.
What are some specific ways your company has supported the nonprofit sector?
We've sponsored fundraising events for local organizations, we maintain corporate memberships with AFP, NTEN, NCDC, and ALDE, and many of our employees volunteer for local organizations.
What is something that no one knows about your company?
We have two distinct divisions. We have a division entirely focused on the nonprofit sector, of course. But we also have a division that serves the for-profit market with AP software. Because of this, we are able to leverage technology that may be cost-prohibitive in the small-to-medium nonprofit market by implementing it in both divisions and generating a balance.
