What can nonprofits do to improve their fundraising or operations?
Nonprofit board and staff members need to remind donors, clients and the public over and over about the difference the nonprofit makes in the community.  Too many nonprofit leaders don’t cultivate and prepare donors before they ask for a contribution. To improve fundraising and operations, nonprofit leaders have to prepare for constant change.  What works today may not be enough for tomorrow.

What makes an effective leader?
An effective leader is one who feels passionately about the work he or she does and demonstrates that passion and vision to the board, staff, donors and the public.  An effective leader knows how to implement a plan to carry out the big vision and the day-to-day work of the organization.

What changes would you like to see in the charitable sector?
Collaborations and partnerships are challenging for nonprofits. However, to meet the growing needs of our citizens in the changing economy, nonprofits must build trust and develop plans to work together to address hunger, homelessness and unemployment.  Our future as a state and nation depend on it.
