TelePacific Communications is a competitive carrier serving business customers throughout California and Nevada – soon to be expanding into other markets. Offerings include voice, dedicated internet access, private networking and data-transport services, plus bundled voice and internet solutions. TelePacific also provides mobile services and SAS 70 certified data centers that are compliant with many stringent industry and government standards such as HIPAA.
Why did you get involved in charitable work?
As a telecommunications company, we are the service provider to many nonprofits in California and Nevada. We believe it is important to provide information and quality solutions to a segment of the community that serves the greater good, but has limited resources.
What are the "returns" for working in the charitable sector (personal, societal, monetary, etc.)?
At the company level, we are supportive of the charitable sector via contributions, sponsorships and employee participation in events and activities. Because we do support our nonprofit customers through various means, they are appreciative and we create great synergies between us. On a personal level, these efforts and relationships are valued by many of our employees who have a strong sense of community and giving back.
How has your organization adapted in response to the recession?
We are very fortunate as an organization that we haven’t had to make too many adjustments to our business as a result of these challenging times. We are constantly looking to find more economical means of providing the same services – if not better – through contract renegotiations with vendors and leveraging the growth of the business to achieve economies of scale.
What changes would you like to see in the charitable sector?
We would like to see more easily accessible information that educates nonprofits on cost-saving programs available to them. These programs could be local, statewide or national, but many nonprofits are just not aware of ways they could economize on operating expenses.
