New scholarships endowed at UNC journalism school.

* Evelyn Y. Davis Foundation awarded $100,000 grant to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication to endow four annual scholarships for senior undergraduate students interested in political or business journalism. * Rex Healthcare donated $15,000 to Alice Aycock Poe Center to fund alcohol and drug prevention classes for ninth-graders at Wakefield High School on anniversary of alcohol-related deaths of four Wakefield students. * Arts Council of Henderson County announced $16,000 in grants to 11 nonprofits serving Henderson County with artistic programs and activities. * McKenzie Cox, 16-year-old Charlotte Catholic High school student, donated 32 hand-painted suitcases filled with goodies and necessities to children in residential program at Barium Springs Home for Children, as part of Love Luggage program.
