DePaul gets $3 million anonymous gift

DePaul University received a $3 million gift from an anonymous donor, to be directed toward its new Real Estate Center. The announcement was made as James D. Shilling was recognized as the first Michael J. Horne Chair in Real Estate Studies at the school, and as the University publicly launched a $16 million campaign to benefit the Center. The anonymous gift helped propel the campaign past the halfway mark, creating a total of $10.5 million raised during the quiet phase of the campaign. Douglas Crocker Jr., retired CEO of Equity Residential Properties Trust, and his wife, Cynthia, donated $2 million to the Center in 2005. In 2006, DePaul alumnus George L. Ruff contributed $1.5 million, and another $4 million was provided through an endowment by the Michael J. Horne Education & Healthcare Assistance Foundation.
