Grants in the news

WEEK OF JUNE 9

* The Boettcher Foundation has given $100,000 to Johnson & Wales University, bringing to $200 million its grant support for Colorado nonprofits.

* The Goldman Sachs Foundation has made $1.49 million in  grants to educational organizations.

* North Carolina’s Rural Internet Access Authority will award college scholarships totaling more than $18,000 to 28 North Carolina students who volunteer with NC TechForce to provie Internet assistance and training to their communities.

WEEK OF JUNE 2

* The Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust awarded $4.52 million to 11 nonprofits in Paradise Valley, Ariz.

* Verizon has given $35,000 to eight nonprofits in North Idaho.

* The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund of The New York Times Fund has made a $1.4 million contribution to launch an emergency program to create 1,000 summer jobs for low-income teens in New York City.

* The United States Golf Association has awarded more than $2.4 million in new grants to help 100,000 economically disadvantaged youngsters and individuals with disabilities learn and grow through the game of golf, bringing to $37 million the awards the initiative has made since 1997.
