Position Title: Director of Communications
Position Goal: Develop, maintain and implement Action for Children media relations and outreach. Implement the Action for Children North Carolina Communications Plan. Oversee the development, production and distribution of all Action for Children reports, event and collateral materials.
Reports To: President/CEO
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism or related field; master's degree a plus, but not required. Exceptional oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Political savvy and ability to recognize media opportunities, utilizing current events, topics and national/state studies, reports and interests of Action for Children. Must demonstrate the highest level of writing, speaking, spelling and grammatical skills. Must have a high-level understanding of graphic design and ability to oversee the production of Action for Children reports. Proficiency in AP style required. Interest and proficiency in social marketing, new media technologies and implementation of social networking communications tools. Must be highly organized and able to flourish in a fast-pace work environment. An outgoing personality is essential.

Action for Children North Carolina, located in Raleigh, is a statewide nonprofit organization devoted to improving the well-being of North Carolina's children and youth, age 0 to 21.
