The North Carolina Justice Center's Health Access Coalition (HAC) seeks a Policy Analyst to produce substantial in-depth reports on critical health care policy issues.

The North Carolina Justice Center, the state’s preeminent voice for economic, social and political justice, is a statewide nonprofit advocacy organization which promotes programs and policies which lead to economic security for low income families and the communities in which they live. The Health Access Coalition educates the public and policymakers about health care reform options and enables consumers to become active participants in developing health policy for the state’s residents.

The Analyst will work as part of the Health Access Coalition's new Good Health Plan project.  The Good Health Plan project is a major new effort to expand access to affordable, quality health care.  The Analyst will assist in developing and implementing a strategic research plan to provide HAC, policymakers and the public information on key health policy issues and to support HAC’s work to expand access to health care and control the growth in health care costs. Potential research topics might include nonprofit hospital and health plan responsibilities, affordable coverage for children, small business health reform and dental care.  Reports generated will include specific proposals for policy changes to address the identified problems. The Analyst will work collaboratively with HAC's director, assistant director, and outreach coordinator to disseminate research findings and reports, including presentations to other organizations, media, policymakers and community groups.

In depth knowledge of state and federal health policy issues

Strong research, writing and presentation skills
