PJ profiles Linda Davis
Executive director
Adoption Bridges of Kentucky, Louisville, Ky
Adoption Bridges of Kentucky offers quality adoption services to both birth parents and adoptive parents. Its mission is to provide every child in need with a loving home.
What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
In
10 years, I expect to still be the executive director of Adoption
Bridges of Kentucky. After a lifetime in human services, which includes
years of working with homeless persons and domestic violence victims, I
feel so fortunate to be working in adoption and seeing happy families
and children.
What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever heard a child say?
Children are a constant source of amusement, wonder and joy to their
parents and grandparents. They say and do so many funny things, it is
impossible to choose one as the funniest.
The best part of nonprofit work is…
The best part about nonprofit work is knowing that your efforts have made some people’s lives better.
Introduce an author you think people should read, and suggest a good book by him/her.
Sue Monk Kidd, who wrote “The Secret Life of Bees” and “The Mermaid
Chair”, is an interesting author who has insight into the essence of
women’s hearts and souls.
What do you consider the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is the miracle of adoption, in
which a birth parent, who is having a difficult time in life, allows an
adoptive family to parent her child in a home where the child is loved,
nurtured, and provided with opportunities to become a happy, healthy,
educated and productive human being.
