RALEIGH, N.C. - An advocate for social justice and civil rights has been tapped to lead Blueprint NC, a Raleigh-based coalition of nonprofits working to foster a healthier and more equitable state.

Sean Kosofsky, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice NC, will succeed Julie Mooney, who has served as Blueprint's first executive director since 2006.

Before joining NARAL 15 months ago, Kosofsky served as the director of policy for the Triangle Foundation, a Michigan organization that champions civil rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.

"Blueprint is on the cutting edge of collaboration and resource-building," Kosofsky says in a statement. "By joining that team, I want to help build on our momentum and help the people of North Carolina improve our quality of life through education and advocacy."

Blueprint has 49 member nonprofits, double the number it began with three years ago.
