NewBridge Bank gives $13,374

NewBridge Bank allocated total of $13,374 for eight high schools in Davidson and Guilford counties from proceeds of bank's 2009 Christmas Classic Basketball Tournament to purchase athletic equipment.

    Annual fund contributions at Davidson College totaled nearly $10.78 million in 2009-10 fiscal year, exceeding $9.25 million goal, with 10,055 of 16,497 active alumni giving, or 61 percent, highest of any college or university in U.S. for the year.
    Triangle Community Foundation increasing budget cap for its community grantmaking program to $1.5 million  from $750,000; announced over $207,000 to be divided among 16 nonprofits chosen.
    Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Forsyth County received $36,000 from Chase Card Service, $40,000 from The Winston-Salem Foundation through the Bess Gray Plumly Fund and the Kerr and Naomi Pinnix Discretionary Fund, and $10,000 from The Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

    John Rex Endowment awarded over $1.8 million in new grant projects focusing on encouraging healthy eating, physical activity, and community-wide solutions to combat childhood obesity.
    Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation gave $20,000 grant to International House, Charlotte, to help launch youth English tutoring program.
    Lexington Memorial Hospital donating outdated computers, printers, monitors and computer peripherals to Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina, which will clean sellable computers of data, load with Microsoft OS and Office, and sell in Lexington Goodwill store; unsellable equipment will be sold to environmentally responsible recyclers.
    United Way of Cumberland awarded $200,000 to recipients in Fayetteville community from Youth Stock Growth Trust, established in 1992 by anonymous donor.
    Winston-Salem Foundation awarded 17 diverse community grants totaling $330,095 to groups serving Forsyth County.
    Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, Winston-Salem, awarded total of $150,000 to 11 small organizations for capacity-building efforts throughout North Carolina, and total of over $1.5 million to bring substance-abuse and primary-health-care providers together.

    John Rex Endowment, Raleigh, awarded capacity-building grants, totaling $186,568, to Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, Learning Together, Alliance of Disability Advocates, Community Partnerships, Interact, Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood, SAFEchild, and Wake Teen Medical Services.
    The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake County received $40,000 from Continuous Blessings Foundation, to be used for Zebulon Boys & Girls Club.
    Conservation Trust for North Carolina received one-year, $50,000 grant from Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation to help speed land and water protection across state by supporting, promoting and representing state's 23 local land trusts and protecting more land along Blue Ridge Parkway.

    Pennsylvania-based Kennametal Foundation donated $40,000 to UNC Asheville, benefiting programs and equipment in Zeis Hall; university named chemistry lobby, on lower level of building, in honor of Kennametal Inc.
    Harris Teeter Together in Education distributed nearly $1.4 million during the 2009-10 school year to participating schools, raising total earned by schools since 1998 to $14.1 million.
    North Carolina Opera, Raleigh, received gift of $60,000 from Progress Energy Foundation.

    Carolina Panthers donating 175 televisions and eight touch-screen kiosks valued at over $10,000 to Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont that were used throughout Bank of America Stadium and by team's coaching staff.
    United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro investing total of $530,000 in cultural partner grants in 21 arts programs.
