Cary funder awards $55,000

CARY, N.C. -- The Cary Community Foundation awarded a total of $55,000 in grants to 27 nonprofits serving the Cary area, topping by $5,000 the amount awarded last year.

The foundation, which was established in 2005, supports nonprofits working to support local residents in the areas of arts and culture, family and children, and community development.

All grants were awarded from the Founders Endowment Fund. The largest awards are:

  • Sister Cities Association -- $5,000
  • Interact -- $5,000
  • The Carying Place -- $5,700
  • April's Angels -- $4,000
  • Life Experiences -- $3,500
  • Center for Volunteer Caregiving -- $3,500

The foundation has assets of more than $110 million.
