CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Robert R. Webb III has been named director of the Rural Church program at The Duke Endowment.

Webb, who joined the endowment in 2006 as a program officer, succeeds Joe Mann, who retired after 20 years at the endowment, including the last 13 as rural-church director.

Webb, who is a graduate of Davidson College and Duke Divinity School and on Feb. 11 was approved for full ordination as a deacon of the United Methodist Church, served as a management consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Health Resource Associates before joining the endowment.

He is a board member of Faith and Form magazine and a member of the steering committee for the Impact Fund for Emerging Leaders at Foundation for the Carolinas.

He also chairs the Rural Life Committee of the North Carolina Council of Churches and is vice-chair of the Western North Carolina Conference of the Council on Campus Ministry for the United Methodist Church.

Mann plans to teach at Duke Divinity School and has been named an executive director of the school's Leadership Education program.
