RALEIGH, N.C. - The North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation has added seven new staffers to its team as it gears up to boost awareness of infant mortality and health issues affecting the state's women and children.
The foundation was created with the goal of reducing infant mortality and improving the health of women and children in North Carolina through teaching and promotional campaigns.
It also distributes of educational materials in English and Spanish, and manages the N.C. Family Health Resource Line, a bilingual telephone hotline for information on women's health, pregnancy and children's health.
The recent staff additions aim to bolster the foundation's communications, program and Latino resources:
- Christine Rogers, former producer of the Healthwise series on UNC-TV, named communications manager
- Aldesha Gore, former staff writer for the Daily Tar Heel, named communications assistant
- Ava Crawford, former research associate for the N.C. Office of Minority Health, named program manager
- Tenayia Simpson, former program consultant for the Department of Public Health's Breast and Cervical Cancer Control program, named program assistant
- Leonor Clavijo, former television news reporter, named Latino outreach coordinator
- Charles Hunt IV, formerly in the restaurant industry, named shipping assistant
- Beth Morgan, formerly with Kitty Casey clothing company, named accounts payable representative
