LGBT funder accepting grant requests

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Wesley Mancini Foundation will be accepting grant requests through Oct. 1 for projects benefiting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities in and around Charlotte.

Founded in 2000, the foundation to date has awarded grants totaling $91,000 to 19 organizations, including Campus Pride, the Charlotte Coalition for Social Justice, the Metrolina AIDS Project and Time Out Youth.

In 2009, the foundation awarded grants totaling $10,300 to four organizations.

To be eligible for grants, organizations must have either tax-exempt status or a tax-qualified sponsor.

Grant funds will be awarded to cover project costs, not general operation expenses.

To request an application, contact Bob Scheer at 704.375.4275, ext. 11, or by email at bscheer@wesleymancini.com.
