RALEIGH, N.C. - The North Carolina Community Foundation and its local affiliate funders have launched an online grants system for the organization's community grantmaking programs.
The new system is intended to streamline the application process for grantees, while providing new tools for the advisory boards tasked with evaluating applications.
"The time and money saved throughout this new process will allow nonprofits to focus on mission-critical work and affiliates to better serve community needs," Jennifer Tolle Whiteside, president and CEO of the foundation, says in a statement.
In 2010, the organization's 60 affiliates, which cover 66 counties across North Carolina, awarded 350 grants totaling almost $500,000.
To help grantees better understand the new process, the foundation will be holding a series of workshops for interested nonprofits, as well as training sessions for the advisory committees that will be evaluating grants.
The tool, provided by Good Done Great, is available through the foundation's website and includes an online training video, instructions and frequently asked questions.
Foundation staff also will be available to provide assistance to both grantees and advisory boards.
