Southeastern NC funder gives $341,325

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Wilmington-based Community Foundation of Southeastern North Carolina has awarded $341,325 to 108 local nonprofits.

The grants ranged from $100 to $68,000 and spread across a variety of focus areas.

Religious causes received the largest percentage of community foundation grants, nearly 40 percent, and roughly 24 percent was split between disaster relief efforts and education. 

The remaining grants went to causes as that included arts and culture, environmental and health causes, and employment and housing.

The foundation gave $68,000, its largest recent grant to Vineyard Community Church, while another church, St. James Episcopal, received $33,200.

Other gifts included $42,000 to Acme Delco Riegelwood Fire Department and $25,000 to Carolina Christian Radio.
