Wachovia funds Charlotte housing

Housing

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Wachovia Foundation has awarded $100,000 to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership to further revitalization efforts in the Statesville Avenue Corridor.

The Housing Partnership works to create affordable housing and stable neighborhoods in the Charlotte area through revitalization, education and affordable housing plans.

The grant will help the group expand its recent efforts in the city's Statesville Avenue Corridor by purchasing the Double Oaks Apartments.

The Wachovia Foundation is the charitable arm of Wachovia Corp. It funds initiatives primarily in education and community development, with a secondary focus on health and human services and arts and culture.
