Winston-Salem Foundation announces June grants

Winston-Salem Foundation announces June grants

The Winston-Salem Foundation, a community foundation that supports charitable programs in the greater Forsyth County area, awarded 12 grants worth $230,000 in June.

The funds went to organizations focusing on arts and culture, health, human services, education and the public interest.

The recipients are:

* Crosby Scholars Community Partnership, $10,000

* El Buen Pastor Latino Community Services, $8,000

* Family Services Inc., $25,000

* Hospital Hospitality House of Winston-Salem, $50,000

* Mental Health Working Group, $10,000

* North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research, $25,000

* North Carolina School of the Arts Foundation Inc., $10,000

* The Chef and Child Foundation/Triad A.C.F., $15,000

* Winston-Salem Industries for the Blind, $30,000

* Winston-Salem Symphony, $20,000

* Winston-Salem Youth Arts Institute, $20,000

* YMCA of Northwest North Carolina, $7,000

In 2007, the foundation awarded more than $30 million to charitable causes, nearly $2 million of which was through competitive grants.
