Advocacy workshop set for September

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Triangle Community Foundation, in partnership with the Warner Foundation and Emerging Tar Heel Leaders, is offering a workshop to familiarize nonprofits with the ins and outs of advocacy.

"Engage for Change: Strategies for Effective Public Advocacy" will include sessions on nonprofit lobbying, creating public-policy agendas and communicating with the media.

Gene R. Nichol, former dean of the School of Law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will be the featured speaker.

A reception with elected officials will be held at the end of the event.

The workshop will be held Sept. 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Cary.
