Arts Council taps new chief

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Arts & Science Council in Charlotte has tapped Scott Provancher to replace Lee Keesler, the group's executive director since 2004.

Provancher comes to Charlotte from Cincinnati, where he serviced as vice president and campaign director for the Fine Arts Fund, the oldest and largest united arts and culture fundraising group in the U.S.

While at the Arts Fund, Provancher led a team that raised $12.1 million in its most recent annual campaign, and worked to grow arts attendance and participation.

He also served as executive director for several symphonies, including the Louisville Orchestra and the Rockford Symphony Orchestra in Rockford, Ill.

"Scott will bring a fresh perspective to the Arts & Science Council," Don Truslow, the council's board chair, says in a statement. "Yet in coming from an organization that is very much like ASC in its scope and mission he will assure a seamless transition in our changing leadership."

Lee Keesler announced his retirement plans in September of last year.
