Charlotte fundraisers to be honored

The Charlotte chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals has named winners of its 2010 National Philanthropy Day awards, and its slate of officers for 2011.

Award-winners, to be recognized at a luncheon on Nov. 10 at the Ritz-Carlton in uptown Charlotte, include:

  • Outstanding Professional Fundraising Executive - Kristin Hills Bradberry, endowment campaign director at the Arts & Science Council, nominated by Davidson College and The Greater Charlotte Cultural Trust.
  • Outstanding Champion of Diversity - Norberto Sanchez, president, Norsan Multimedia Group, nominated buy Levine Museum of the New South.
  • Outstanding Philanthropist - William H. Williamson III, nominated by The Greater Charlotte Cultural Trust and Vandever Batten.
  • Outstanding Emerging Philanthropist - Marjorie Bray, nominated by Freedom School Partners.
  • Outstanding Philanthropic Small Business - Loftin & Company Printers, nominated by Council for Children's Rights.
  • Outstanding Legacy - James Douglas Zeller (posthumously), nominated by CPCC Foundation.
  • Outstanding Student Philanthropy - Playing for Others, nominated by LifeSpan; and Chantal Saxon, nominated by Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
  • Outstanding Philanthropic Organization - Susan G. Komen for the Cure - Charlotte, nominated by Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
  • Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser - Ruth Shaw, retired, Duke Energy, nominated by UNC-Charlotte and Carolina Thread Trail.

Serving as the chapter's president will be Amy Tribble, director of development at the Council for Children's Rights.

Serving as president-elect will be Katie Benston, former director of annual support at Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
