CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Using funds from a federal program developed to help hungry and homeless Americans, United Way of Central Carolinas awarded a total of $637,869 to local agencies.
Funds from the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program were allocated to nine groups in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area that provide emergency food and shelter services:
