FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - United Way of Cumberland County has awarded nearly $1.1 million for health and human-service programs in the county.
Of the total, over $989,000 will go to the United Way's general Community Care Fund for distribution to member agencies.
And over $94,000 will fund other United Way partners, as well as the agency's own community initiatives.
The Salvation Army received $152,000, the largest single award given to the community-impact partner agencies.
The largest grant to the United Way's own community initiatives was $30,000 for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
Funds were awarded based on the recommendations of volunteers who visited partner agencies to assess program budgets, goals and financial statements.
