Duke to hold trainings in Outer Banks

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. - The Nonprofit Management Certificate Program at Duke University will hold four classes in the Outer Banks this fall.

The six-hour sessions will be held at the Education Pavilion at the Nature Conservancy offices at Nags Heads Woods in Kill Devil Hills on the following dates:

  • Oct. 9: Marketing your nonprofit
  • Oct. 10: Leading volunteers to success
  • Oct. 23: The dynamics of executive director/board relations
  • Nov. 20: Grant proposals: Planning for positive results

Instructors for the sessions are Alice Lutz, head of Oxygen: Business Planning and Development; Don Wells, former director of Duke's nonprofit certificate program; and Amy Montgomery, executive director of the Dare Education Foundation.

Each class costs $98 plus a small materials fee; apply for scholarships through the Outer Banks Community Foundation.
