Greensboro United Way raises $13 million

GREENSBORO, N.C. - United Way of Greater Greensboro raised nearly $13.2 million during its latest campaign, topping its goal by $160,000.

Chaired by Dale Hall, Triad market president for Bank of America, the campaign raised over $360,000 more than the year before.

Funds raised during the campaign will be used to fund Success at School and the 10 Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness, as well as various programs at partner agencies.

Ed Kitchen, vice president of the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation, will chair the 2008-09 campaign.

United Way also received a $225,000 grant from the Weaver Foundation in recognition of Robin Britt, executive director of the Guilford Child Development and long-time advocate for North Carolina children.

The grant will be used to implement a public-awareness campaign for its Thriving at Three initiative that helps children become physically and emotionally health by age three.
