Group to build artists’ business skills

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Arts & Science Council in Charlotte will hold a series of three classes during the fall and winter to help professional artists learn how to bring their products to market.

The Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute is based on a program piloted in Ohio by the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture and provides strategies for running an arts-based business.

The sessions, which cost a total of $150, will focus on topics including understanding consumers, developing a brand and product mix, pricing practices, business planning, communications strategies and copyrights and taxes.

Sessions will be held Nov. 8, Dec. 6 and Jan. 10 at the council's offices at 227 W. Trade St., Suite 250, in Charlotte. Register online by Oct 24.
