Guilford College gets big gift

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Guilford College in Greensboro has received a $2.5 million challenge gift from Dan and Beth Mosca of Brown Summit, N.C., for a $5 million endowment the school is establishing for its Center for Principled Problem Solving.

The couple will match, dollar for dollar, contributions from Guilford's board, alumni and friends for the fund.

Once the $5 million goal is reached, the board will be asked to name the fund in honor of Kent John Chabotar, Guilford's president, to recognize his leadership in establishing the center as part of the school's strategic long-range plan.

Dan Mosca is retired president of AdvoCare, a property-leasing and nursing-home-management company he founded in 1992.
