Triangle-area United Ways to merge

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. - In an effort to improve service delivery and fundraising, two United Ways in the greater Triangle area have agreed to merge.

United Way of the Greater Triangle and United Way of Johnston County will join forces, centralizing all administrative functions and streamlining processes for donors and companies in both the organizations.

"United Way will now consolidate back-office administrative work and will focus more on the community," James Speed Jr., board chair of United Way of the Greater Triangle, says in a statement. "That is our mission."

The merger will extend to Johnston County United Way's 2-1-1 service, which provides callers with information about health and human services available in the community.

The merged organization will continue to have an office in Johnston County.
