Triangle funder supports choral group

DURHAM, N.C. -- Through four grants from its donor-advised funds, the Triangle Community Foundation in Durham is helping a Chapel Hill nonprofit bring music to the lives of people with developmental disabilities.

Voices Together has received a total of $50,000 from the foundation to further its mission of providing choral instruction and interactive songs to improve the communication and social skills of Triangle-area adults and kids with developmental disabilities.

A gift of $35,000 from the Peter J. and Prudence F. Meehan Fund will help Voices Together expand its operations by providing support for development activities.

Another $12,500 from the Kathryn Segee Memorial Fund and Wright Refuge Fund will help offset operational expenses, as will $1,600 from the Perry Colwell Fund.

And $900 from the Youth Pro Musica Fund will help provide a scholarship for a youth to participate in the Voices Together Community Program.

Voices Together provides direct services for almost 400 people across the Triangle.
