Triangle United Way extends campaign

MORRISVILLE, N.C. -- With the global economic tailspin hitting home, more and more Triangle residents are having trouble meeting their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter.

At the same time, the recession has slowed giving and stalled the Triangle United Way's 2008 fundraising campaign at about 90 percent of its $11.7 million goal, or shy about $800,000.

To meet those increasing needs, the organization has extended its campaign until the end of the year.

"We can't stop until all of the dollars are in," David Strong, president of Rex Healthcare and chair of the campaign, says in a statement. "I have seen firsthand the need that exists in our community, especially during today's economy."

United Way is urging individuals, groups and businesses to make a gift or pledge.

Donations can be made online, by calling the agency at 919.463.1367, or by mail at Triangle United Way, Attention JAC, 1100 Perimeter Park Drive, Suite 112, Morrisville, N.C. 27560.
