Business partnerships seen boosting causes

Cone Inc. Partnerships with trusted businesses help draw attention to nonprofit causes and are more likely to make consumers feel good about the causes and actively support them, a new survey says.

  • Rose Community Foundation, Denver, awarded 151 grants totaling over $4.5 million in fourth quarter 2009.
  • Scholarship America to add 14 schools to its Dreamkeepers financial-assistance program to help community colleges keep moderate to low-income students from dropping out, thanks to $3.2 million from Kresge Foundation, Lumina Foundation for Education and Walmart Foundation.
