CAFAmerica sees increase in gifts

Donations to CAFAmerica, a firm that focuses on "borderless charity giving," totaled $30 million in fiscal 2008, an increase of more than half over the previous fiscal year.

CAFAmerica received a $2 million contribution from the PepsiCo Foundation and a $5.5 million individual contribution, both records for the organization.

The group launched a new website in December 2007 designed to make it easier for donors to make contributions and to help nonprofits apply for grants. Online giving to the charity alone increased three-fold from the previous year to almost $154,000.

CAFAmerica, a member organization of the London-based CAF International Network since 1992, provides services to individuals, companies and foundations trying to develop their international giving.

The CAF International Network spans six continents and has more than $4 billion in charitable funds under management.
