Fiscal sponsorship tool launched

Through a new online tool, community projects can find potential fiscal sponsors whose support can help broaden a project's reach.

The Fiscal Sponsor Directory, an online resource developed by the San Francisco Study Center, launched the tool to help community projects find and enter into fiscal sponsorships.

Fiscal sponsorship is a form of cooperation in which a 501(c)3 public charity administers the funding for, and provides financial support to,  community organizations that are not formal 501(c)3 organizations.

Through such an arrangement, a community project can receive grant dollars and other funding to further its mission.

The directory currently includes 144 sponsors spread across 26 states and the District of Columbia, and can be searched by state, service category or keyword.

The entry for each organization contains details about the sponsoring organization, including contact information, services offered, preferred project focus and fiscal-sponsorship fees.

The Study Center was founded in 1972. It is part of the National Network of Fiscal Sponsors.
