Hartsook names Beem next CEO

Hartsook Companies has promoted Matthew J. Beem to chief operating officer and plans to name him CEO in 2011.

Beem joined the fundraising consultancy in 2001 and will earn a doctoral degree in 2010 after completing a dissertation on compensation for fundraisers.

He lives in Independence, Mo., and serves on the boards of Graceland University and the Blue Elk District Committee of the Boy Scouts of America Heart of America Council.

Hartsook also promoted Robert G. Swanson to vice chairman from president, and Ronald Loewen, former vice president for strategic plans at Liberty Corp., will serve as the company's vice chairman for digital strategies.

The company also plans to move its headquarters from Wichita, Kan., to Kansas City, Mo.
