In an effort to help U.S. nonprofits weather the economic downturn, the National Council of Nonprofits has published two reports detailing how the new stimulus bill affects community groups.
The reports are part of the council's online Nonprofit Economic Vitality Center, a section of the group's website dedicated to helping nonprofits cope with the recession.
The first report summarizes the spending and tax-cut provisions of the $787 billion stimulus legislation, noting grant opportunities for nonprofits.
The second report provides grant information and tips for nonprofits that are considering apply for grants.
"Some may advance their missions by pursuing stimulus grants to spark the recovery of their communities," Tim Delaney, president and CEO of the council, says in a statement. "Others may take a seat at the policy table to make sure that decisions about what gets funded, and what doesn't, are made wisely for the common good."
