Recession takes bite out of nonprofits' gambling revenue

Indiana nonprofits are getting less money from gaming ventures in the state as the recession has prompted donors to cut back on their gambling, The Associated Press reported July 19 (see Indiana nonprofits story).

Bill Clinton and Bill Gates told AIDS activists they should make every penny donated to HIV work count because donors will not give more in tough times unless they see the money is spent well, Reuters reported July 19 (see HIV funding story).

Schwab Charitable sees surge in contributions

Contributions grew 92 percent in the 12 months ended June 30 at Schwab Charitable, the donor-advised fund sponsored by Charles Schwab Corp., Dow Jones reported July 19 (see Schwab Charitable story).
