Resource aims to aid struggling nonprofits

As the economic crisis squeezes foundations, corporations and individual donors alike, nonprofits face the challenge of meeting greater needs with fewer financial resources.

In response to this problem, the National Council of Nonprofits has launched the Nonprofit Economic Vitality Center, a free online resource center designed to help nonprofits weather the economic storm.

The website is divided into three focus areas.

The first provides basic facts and analyses to help nonprofits, policymakers and the media better understand economic issues.

The second discusses the impact economic issues have on nonprofits and the communities they serve.

The third offers guidance to nonprofits to help them emerge from the current economic turmoil with greater strength and effectiveness.

The council plans to update and edit the site continuously to ensure material is accurate, useful and up-to-date.

The National Council of Nonprofits, a Washington, D.C.-based network of state and regional nonprofit associations, seeks to promote effective leadership and collaboration among U.S. nonprofits.
