The Salvation Army, one of the largest U.S. charities, owns real estate valued at $4 billion in 2008, or roughly one-third of its assets, the Los Angeles Times reported March 13 (see Salvation Army story).
Indiana University Foundation lays off 18 employees
The Indiana University Foundation laid off 18 employees after its endowment, which has rebounded to $1.3 billion, fell to $1.1 billion because of the plunge in the stock market from nearly $1.6 billion two years ago, the Associated Press reported March 12 (see Indiana foundation layoff story).
