The Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21), a national organization that advocates for 21st century readiness for every student, has announced a two-year initiative to highlight the importance of civic engagement for students thanks to a $200,000 grant from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
The Lyles College of Engineering at Fresno Stateand State Center Community College District are sharing a $100,000 grant to increase recruitment, retention and matriculation of underrepresented students preparing for engineering and construction management careers. The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) grant is part of the association's national initiative to increase and improve access and success for underrepresented students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The ASAE community answered the call to help the children of Dallas and the North Texas Food Bank. ASAE presented a check for $61,442, which exceeded ASAE's goal of $50,000 set in July. ASAE's donation will provide meals for 12,288 children. Through its Community Connection project, Un-learning tours, 5K Walk/Run and Fun, Dallas CVB, ASAE Foundation, companies, and attendees contributed money that will benefit the Food 4 Kids backpack program.
The Dannon Company, Inc. awarded Cook Children's a Dannon Next Generation Nutrition® Grant totaling $30,000 in support of its Nutrition University, a healthy eating and exercise program dedicated to fostering positive lifestyle habits for overweight children.

The Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR) is pleased to announce that three members of the Board of Directors have been elected to new positions: Esmeralda Lyn has been elected as Chair of the IWPR Board, Holly Fechner as Vice Chair, and Sylphiel Yip as Treasurer. In addition, IWPR is pleased to announce that Kai-yan Lee, currently head of the Real Estate Industry section at the World Economic Forum, has been elected to serve a three-year term on the board.

David Eisner announced that he will step down as President and CEO of the National Constitution Center. Eisner, who oversaw the Center's powerful FREEDOM! branding initiative, will remain at the helm into the fall.
The board of directors of Yerba Buena Center for the Arts announced today that Kenneth Foster, executive director since October 2003, will be leaving the organization at the end of this fiscal year, to take the position of associate professor and director of a new graduate program in arts leadership at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. The board will begin the search for his successor immediately. Foster will remain in his position at YBCA until May 2013, and begin full-time at USC in the fall of 2013.

Subaru of Americaannounced its Share the Love charity event is now live on Facebook. Subaru's Facebook fans will help the company select its next philanthropic partners, which will be rewarded a collective $5 million in donations. Subaru will be donating $250 for each vehicle sold or leased from November 21-Jan 2 to the winning nonprofits.
Grammy Award Winning artist CeeLo Green and his sister Shedonna Alexander have co-founded the GreenHouse Foundation, a non-profit organization with a mission to help make "green education" easier and accessible to students in underserved school districts.
In honor of September's National Child Awareness Month, YSA (Youth Service America) and Festival of Children Foundation will engage 51 outstanding teens and young adults from across the nation to serve as Youth Ambassadors, leading high-visibility campaigns to create positive change in the lives of other young people.
