Hyundai Hope On Wheels, supported by Hyundai Motor America and its dealers, donated $10.25 million to fund pediatric cancer research in the United States. 

Success Academy Charter Schools, a New York charter school management organization, received $5 million from The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation to expand the number of schools serving mostly low-income students and students of color.

The UJA-Federation of New York gave more than $1 million in scholarships to 400 disadvantaged New York students at the Rose Biller Career Fair, which featured nonprofit agencies.

The Oregon State Elks celebrated raising $25 million for the Elks Children's Eye Clinic through its 64-year-old partnership with the Oregon Health & Science University.

Fresno State alumnus John W. Long bequeathed $5 million to fund full-tuition scholarships for 20 students annually.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. established a STEM Scholarship Program that will award nearly $700,000 annually to 44 students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of California-Berkeley, Imperial College London and Fudan University in Shanghai.

Citizens Schools received $650,000 from Cisco to support academic mentoring and apprenticeships for middle school students in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina and Texas.

Prudential Financial donated $250,000 to the Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Community Services at Easter Seals, which assists service members after deployments.

AIDS United gave cash prizes to Portland-based Cascade AIDS Project, Atlanta-based Georgia Equality and Tampa Bay-based Metro Wellness and Community Centers, which had the most votes in a video contest.

Fifth Third Bank's Make Change in a Child's Life campaign has raised $230,000 for the Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Donations will be accepted through Sept. 6.

D'Addrio renewed its partnership to supply guitar string and accessories to T-Shirts4Troops' music program, which gives music lessons to seriously harmed service members.

RYOT, a social news start-up, has raised $185,000 for nonprofits through the crowdfunding #STARTARYOT Challenge, which runs through Sept. 24.

FundAnything, a crowdfunding site, launched a campaign with actress Jane Lynch and rocker Matt Sorum to raise money for the Adopt the Arts Foundation, which supports music programs in Los Angeles public schools.

Anthony Boor was named the interim president and CEO of Blackbaud.

D.E.L.T.A. Rescue, a Glendale, Calif., animal sanctuary, was acknowledged as one of the Top Ranked Charities by the American Institute of Philanthropy CharityWatch and was awarded the Independent Charities Seal of Excellence from the Independent Charities of America.

Michelle Gollapalli was named chief development officer of Bancroft, a N.J.-based not-for-profit provider of services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Randi Goldstein was hired as the senior vice president of development for HBI, a nonprofit that provides training, mentoring, curriculum development and job placement services.

Judith Green, Robin McShane and Lee Rosenblum were hired as senior consultants for the Harvest Development Group.

Global Philanthropic Inc.opened an office in British Columbia and appointed Karen Van Sacker as vice president and lead consultant.

Robert Clifford Shippey Jr. was appointed senior director of development for Brenau University.

The Laura and John Arnold Foundation joined the Reporting Commitment, an initiative aimed at developing greater transparency in reporting on the flow of philanthropic dollars.

The Resource Alliance launched the Fundraising Assessment Tool to help charities assess their fundraising capabilities.

News about opportunities, initiatives

LoveAnimals.org, a nonprofit crowdfunding website, was launched to help animal welfare and wildlife conservation nonprofits connect with micro-donors. The site is initially focused on small, regional, and rural nonprofit organizations serving all species of animals.

The Corporation for Enterprise Development seeks proposals from Head Start programs and partners to join an Intensive Learning Cluster, which will support financial empowerment strategies. Proposals should be submitted to rfp@cfed.org by Sept. 26.

Lafayette College and The Opportunity Network nonprofit entered a partnership to provide admission and financial support to academically gifted, low-income New York City high school students.

A sensory garden offering therapeutic and tactile features for children with special needs was built at Commonwealth Elementary in Fullerton, Calif., with the financial and time support of the Fullerton Cares Autism Foundation and local businesses.

TRIAD Trust, a Boston-based AIDS prevention organization, released Marula's Shade: The ImprovED Album, sung and written by South African musicians. Proceeds from sales of the album benefit the trust.

That is really great many people are suffering from the pains of cancer in this world. the Hyundai Motors America's Hyundai Hope on the wheel was a very good thing to send the money for the s good deeds. thank you for sharing.
