Shannon Ritchie

The A.J. Fletcher Foundation, a philanthropic organization located in Raleigh, announced today that Shannon Ritchie will become its first director of online engagement. This is a new position that will focus on helping grantees achieve their mission using outreach and communication strategies tailored for the new media environment.

"As the entire world changes the way in which it interacts, nonprofit organizations must lead the way in adapting to the new media space. Ritchie's past work and keen understanding will help both the foundation and our grantees better utilize new data and communication technologies," said AJF Executive Director Damon Circosta.

Ritchie recently directed strategy for The Vote Against Project, an innovative approach to social media advocacy that gave over 5,000 voters a creative outlet for sharing opposition to a constitutional amendment that now limits marriage rights in North Carolina. Raised in Raleigh, and currently residing in Durham, Richie went to college at Wake Forest University, where she served as Student Body President. She also has a graduate degree in Public Policy from Duke University's Sanford School.

The late A.J. Fletcher, founder of Capitol Broadcasting Company, established the A.J. Fletcher Foundation. Under the leadership of Jim and Barbara Goodmon, AJF works to change North Carolina by helping people and organizations solve social and community problems.
