Online solutions for nonprofits

Blackbaud and Convio, two providers of software solutions for nonprofits, posted higher revenue for the three months ended June 30, with net income growing for Blackbaud and declining for Convio.

Blackbaud, based in Charleston, S.C., reported non-GAAP net income of $8.9 million on revenue of $93.4 million, up from $80.7 million and $6.8 million, respectively, in the same period a year earlier.

Diluted earnings per share were 20 percent for the second quarter, compared with 15 cents a year earlier.

The company's board of directors approved a third-quarter dividend of 12 cents a share payable on Sept. 15 to stockholders of record on Aug. 26.

It also announced a strategic partnership with Constant Contact to provide tools and training for nonprofits to help boost their e-mail marketing programs.

Convio, based in Austin, Tex., reported net income of $1.3 million for the period on revenue of $20.7 million, compared to $1.7 million and $18.2 million, respectively, in the same period a year earlier.

Non-GAAP earnings per share grew 5 cents to 16 cents.

Convio says its clients raised over $380 million in online donations, up 21 percent from the same period a year earlier.

The company also announced a strategic partnership with Constant Contact.
