WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Student productions at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem will air on UNC-TV over the next five years, thanks to a $500,000 grant to the school from the A.J. Fletcher Foundation in Raleigh.

The first production, to be aired at a date still to be determined, will be an all-school production of Oklahoma!, which was staged this spring at the Stevens Center in Winston-Salem.

Future productions will be selected to videotaping as the school's performance calendar is set.

The grant, to be paid over five years, is the second major donation from the Fletcher Foundation to the school in recent years.

The foundation also made a $10 million commitment to the school to establish the Fletcher Opera Institute, which has trained and graduated over two-dozen opera singers.
