April 19: Duke, Winston-Salem Foundation, March of Dimes, and more

Duke University and Wallace H. Coulter foundation created $20 million endowment to foster research collaboration between bioengineers and clinicians, aiming to develop new technologies to improve patient care.
Winston-Salem Foundation awarded total of $16,962 to 16 K-12th-grade teachers in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools for professional development.
Hutchens, Senter & Britton law firm, Fayetteville, raised $2,200 in donations for 2011 March of Dimes March for Babies, and donated $1,500 as a sponsor.
Family Services, Winston-Salem, received $3,000 grant from Alliance for Children and Families to identify ways to provide quality aging services.
