New health website targets Latinas

RALEIGH, N.C. -- A new Spanish-language website aims to make it easier for Latina women to find health-care information for themselves and their families.

Launched Aug. 6 by the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation, based in Raleigh, http://www.mamasana.org/ will provide information about women's and children's health, along with links to related resources.

The site complements the foundation's Ana Maria campaign, which was launched in 2000 to raise awareness among Latinas of the health-care resources available in the state.

Both the Ana Maria campaign and mamasana.org provide health information that is linguistically and culturally appropriate for the state's growing Hispanic population.
