HICKORY, N.C. - The Women's Resource Center in Hickory will host its 2009 spring gala May 7, featuring earth scientist Terri Bennett.
The theme of the gala is "Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet," and Bennett will talk about her "Do Your Part" initiative that provides tips on environmentally-friendly living.
The event will feature a silent auction, readings from the center's collection of poetry Vision & Voices, and entertainment by the local Black Youth United Community Step Team.
Tickets are $25 each and the event is being held at the Lake Hickory Country Club.
