The role of stocks and other non-cash gifts

Since the IRS began releasing studies indicating the role non-cash gifts play in charitable donations, this type of giving has been gaining prominence. In 2005 alone, non-cash gifts accounted for over $41 billion in charitable contributions, an 11 percent increase over the previous year.
