Lesbian and gay donors typically direct half their giving to mainstream causes and often give more than the average American, she says, yet they require respect, inclusion and acknowledgement from beneficiary organizations.

Red Wing, the former policy director of the Gill Foundation, is now the primary consultant at Red Wing Works and a principal at Gulfstream 21.
