Diversity within family foundations critical

Given the pressure the recession has placed on nonprofits and foundations, it is critical that the best talent and broadest range of perspectives be brought to bear in addressing issues and problems facing our society.

This guide from the Council on Foundations, titled Ten Ways for Family Foundations to Consider Diversity and Inclusive Practices, provides strategies funders can use to make their work more effective and reflective of the communities in which they operate.

Family foundations can use any of the 10 approaches to jumpstart an assessment of their organization's diversity and inclusiveness.
